Welcome Everyone!

Pixcapades has long been a dream of mine that I never thought could be a reality.

When I was young, my Grandmother, (whom never liked for us to call her grandma; it made her feel old) would load (8 of us) my brother, cousins and myself up in the bed of her Toyota Tacoma and take us on adventures. We never knew where we were headed, but that was most of the fun. State parks, the beach, a local park or to bible camp all the way in Brenham, Texas (we lived south of Houston) a couple of summers. These adventures are amongst some of my fondest childhood memories. She is probably to blame for my addiction to traveling.

My brother and I had the pleasure of living with Donna, our adventurous Grandmother, most of our childhoods. Like most grandmothers, she had lots of things from her past stashed away. I remember finding an old photograph when I was younger and thinking, I wanted to be a photographer when I grow up. It was a black and white picture of a fairy ring, according to my mom. There was something about that small 4x4 photo of a mushroom ring that captivated me. From then on, I remember having several cameras and setting up "sessions" with my siblings and friends. I laugh now looking back on some of the pictures. We had blankets and sheets hung up across our closet doors, all done up thinking we were professional models.

Through the years I dabbled more in photography but never really thought that it could be a career. In 2018 my husband, our kids and myself sold our home and most of our belongings to travel the United States in our RV. Over the next 5 years we would travel through 15 states, living in 5 for extended periods of time. We have visited countless parks, museums, wildlife preserves, road side attractions and family.

In all these travels, my camera was never out of reach. I have compiled a hefty collection of photos over the 5 year period. One day I may get around to adding them to the website, but for now I will share a few of my favorites. The picture at the top of this page I took 4 years ago in Duncan, Oklahoma. Looking back on the pictures that day I decided I wanted to make this my job, thus the idea of Pixcapades was born.

Though small in it's infancy, I have big plans. While culling through thousands of pictures, editing and choosing just the right ones; I noticed that there weren't very many pictures of me, if any. It got me thinking that my family is no different from others and if I am missing from the family vacation pics, there are probably lots of moms and dads missing from their pics as well. Many families travel from all over the world to see the majestic mountains of Colorado. For most, it is a once in a lifetime trip. I want to capture all of your magical memories and your family's adventure for you. To freeze that moment in time eternally for you to cherish always, and yes Mom and Dad will be in the pictures as well.

My photography style hasn't swayed much over the years. I like to keep things as close to true color as possible, yet crisp and vibrant. Candid shots are always my favorite. They capture the true feelings in the moment, you can see the wonder and excitement in their faces and mannerisms, and you get brought right back to that moment in time; I swear you can hear their laugh.

I cherish all of my memories, and I love rekindling the nostalgia in my children when the look back at the pictures. Hearing, "OH Yeah I remember that!", is music to my ears. It's amazing to me how one photograph can transport you back in time and trigger so many emotions.

Photography has always been there for me in life, I truly LOVE what I do!
